RATION BOOKS AT THE READY AS 2009 PRESS BALL REFLECTED 'AUSTERITY' - WITH A MINI TWIST


Chin-up. Austerity was the theme of this year's London Press Club Ball which took place on Thursday October 15 - but there was no rationing of fun. The night remembered Bob Warren , former chair and huge ambassador of the Charity.

BBC Breakfast presenter Kate Silverton hosted the event and James Braxton of BBC's Bargain Hunt conducted the auction raising considerable funds for the Journalists' Charity. The star MINI sold for £16,000.

Barclays and Camelot were again the major sponsors at the Brewery in Chiswell Street, London. Music was performed by the stunning all-girl opera group Passionata and live music filled the hall fromTom Rust and his band... who also donated himself and his band to sing and hoover as an auction item!
