A Curry with Jeremy Bowen

The Journalists’ Charity Wales was delighted to welcome the BBC’s Middle East Editor Jeremy Bowen at its very successful Autumn fundraising  event.  A great night was had by all as journalists, colleagues and friends from across Wales gathered for an amazing tasting menu provided by one of Britain’s top Indian restaurants the Purple Poppadom.  The Wales branch was joined by officers from the Journalists’ Charity  – James Brindle ,Chief Executive and Kate McMillan .

Born in Cardiff it was a really special visit home for Jeremy and his inspirational speech was the highlight of the night as he held the crowd captivated with his experiences of various war zones and major historical news events across the World . The Chair of the Charity in Wales Tim Rogers praised Jeremy’s immense  contribution to journalism  and thanked him for his support for the charity and the work it does.

Wales is now concentrating on its next big event , the Journalists Charity Wales Media Awards 2020 which last year attracted  almost 240 entries , an increase of around 20 per cent on the previous year .The awards celebrate and promote great journalism – work produced in Wales , for an audience in Wales . This year our independent panel of 36 judges will be considering entries in 20 categories and will also be announcing Journalist of the Year and make a special award to a journalist deemed to have made an outstanding contribution.
