Donations are the lifeblood of any charitable organisation. To give you have first to receive.
EDF - one of the UK's largest energy companies - realises this and has been a regular and generous friend to needy journalists. The company, which provides power to a quarter of the UK's population, combines its regional media awards ceremonies with annual donations to our charity.
Run in conjunction with joint sponsors Hold The Front Page the media awards scheme now covers three large regions and gives recognition to the best in daily and weekly newspapers, radio and television.
EDF sends £500 to the Journalists' Charity from each award ceremony and invites guests to make donations and we were delighted to receive £660 at the West of England Awards ceremony in June.
Andrew Brown, Head of Media Relations at EDF Energy, said: "Locally-rooted campaigns are at the heart of what regional media does best.
"That's why these awards are important to us, and why we felt from the outset that the Journalists' Charity, with the fantastic support it provides to journalists and their dependants in times of need, should benefit."
Our holiday programme at Devon Cliffs, Exmouth, South Devon last year was so successful we invested in a new luxury caravan, a little larger and with improved facilities, and moved to a new site, slightly easier of access and nearer the sea!
This accommodation is mainly booked up for this year's peak (school holidays) season but there are plenty of autumn weeks. It is available until the end of October.
Devon Cliffs is the flagship resort of the Haven Group who have spent millions on it in recent years providing a wealth of amenities, mostly at the disposal of our guests.
