Miss Scotland presented the prizes
The team
McGarvie Morrison Media recently organised the Inaugural Wryter Cup raising £22,000 for the Journalists' Charity. The event took place in The Carrick Cameron House on the 12th of May, 2008.
The breathtaking new Carrick Course at Cameron House with Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond as a backdrop, provided spectacular scenes for the eighteen participating teams. After a successful round of golf, the golfers were treated to a three course meal in the prestigious Claret bar and restaurant in the state of the art Carrick clubhouse. John Hartson, ex-Celtic legend and football commentator
and the ever glamourous Miss Scotland, Nieve Jennings were amongst a host of celebrities present at the Inaugural Wryter Cup.
The prize giving was presented by Miss Scotland to the winning teams, the Sunday Mail, CPL Group Ltd and the Sun Advertising Team, sponsored by Glenmuir. After the dinner Bob Wylie took to the floor to host the Charity auction and raffle, the star auction prize, a pair of UEFA Cup Final Tickets, raised a staggering £2000 for the Charity auction. Golfers had the opportunity to play at some of the best courses in the world, from Prestwick Golf Club to The Carrick to Loch Lomond, to Kingsbarns The Delvin and the new Castle Course at St Andrews.
David Dinsmore, chairman of the Journalists' Charity said, "This is my first year as chairman of the Journalists' charity and I'm pleased to say we have been extremely successful in all our charity events. Our annual ball in the Radisson in March raised record sums of money and proved an excellent night. We have had a very successful year and we are looking forward to future events."
