Your support
Individual support
• You can support the Journalist's Charity in many ways...we need your help to raise money.
• Please become a regular supporter and pay by direct debit. In return you will receive regular newsletters and preferential invitations to events and parties.
• Please remember us in your will (www.rememberacharity.org.uk.)
• Please do get in touch with your local representative via the Dorking office and help them raise funds for their events or to help them in their work where you live.
The Industry
There are many opportunities for sponsorship, which may appeal to you
• We have recently built a new £4million care home for journalists and their dependants and we are looking within our industry for help in financing it. There are many opportunities for sponsorship.
• Pickering House (based in Dorking) is a state of the art complex with 20 bedrooms divided into three wings, a library, a bar, dining room, activities room, chapel, hairdressing salon and even a gym. There are also five extra care flats for residents who wish to retain some independence.
• If sponsorship does not appeal to you there is an opportunity for donors to become friends of the charity and receive invitations to some of our events - drinks with the Irish prime minister in the Irish Embassy, or our annual lunch in London next spring, which was addressed by Gordon Brown this year.
Please give serious consideration to giving us some help - for friends of journalists are not easy to find outside our own industry.
And finally if you know anyone who may need our help whether it is for housing or for us to consider making a grant ..please let us know.
